Call for Nominations: Graduate School Public Lecture Series
The Office of Public Lectures Selection Committee warmly invites your nominations for the Graduate School Public Lecture Series—an opportunity to bring globally recognized thought leaders to our campus to engage directly with students, faculty, and the broader community.
Supported by the Walker-Ames, Mangels, and Danz Endowments, this program champions the University’s mission to share knowledge widely—through public facing lectures along with meaningful classroom visits, workshops, and campus-wide conversations. We’re especially seeking speakers who will actively connect with our students and faculty across disciplines and who are passionate about engaging with the public on pressing societal issues—from climate change and mental health to equity and justice.
What makes a strong nomination?
- Demonstrated interdisciplinary and campus-wide support
- A clear plan for both public engagement and on-campus teaching
- Interest in fostering dialogue across academic and community boundaries
Competitive nominations typically involve multiple campus units. If you’d like help identifying co-sponsors, we’re happy to assist!
Nominations remain valid for two academic years. Host departments of selected speakers will receive up to $1,000 in matching funds to support visit-related expenses.
Let’s work together to bring speakers who help make research come alive both inside and outside of the classroom.
