The new Office of Graduate Student Success

On July 1, 2025, the University of Washington Graduate School’s offices of Graduate Student Equity and Excellence (GSEE), Graduate Student Affairs and Equity and Justice (OEJ) have come together to form the new Office of Graduate Student Success.

This unification reflects our commitment to strengthening organizational efficiency and better aligning our efforts in support of student belonging, engagement and achievement.

The Office of Graduate Student Success, led by incoming Associate Dean Kalei Kanuha, focuses on improving the quality of the graduate student experience by engaging with faculty, staff and students to foster a culture of inclusive excellence across all three UW campuses.

Inclusive excellence is critical to the success of our students and must be embedded into our culture. This includes the support we provide all of our students through GSEE and Graduate Student Affairs, ranging from programming and mental health awareness to funding opportunities, advocacy and community-building events. To foster a supportive, accessible and welcoming environment for all students, the Office of Graduate Student Success provides faculty and staff with helpful tools to create an inclusive community, culture and curriculum.

GSEE and Graduate Student Affairs sits within this new office and is led by Dr. Carolyn Jackson. To help you navigate this new structure, we’ve outlined key resources and contacts within the Office of Graduate Student Success below.
