What I Did This Summer

My program doesn’t require (or fund) summer coursework so I’m shopping for productive options. Suggestions of places to look other than HuskyJobs? Research opportunities? Things that might pay me AND fulfill me (ideally) or do one or the other?  —Anonymous

Without knowing your specific field or interests, I’ll try to provide some possibilities that will perhaps spark ideas for your particular situation:

Seasonal work

Summer research

Traveling

Hope this has given you some ideas of paths to pursue. And if anyone has other ideas, please leave a comment. Good luck!

Ask the Grad School Guru is an advice column for all y’all graduate and professional students. Real questions from real students, answered by real people. If the guru doesn’t know the answer, the guru will seek out experts all across campus to address the issue. 1. There are summer teaching opportunities that can pay pretty well, and help you develop your teaching/presenting skills.
