Why did you decide to attend graduate school?
Through the various careers I envisioned entering in my teens, I believed becoming a medical doctor, like my father, would be the only degree through which I could assist those who needed medical assistance and could not afford it. As I entered college, that passion for becoming a professional dedicated to bettering the lives of those who could not afford or access healthcare was still present.
What are your career plans post-graduate school?
In my future career, I aim to further expand on the effects of healthcare reform in addressing and reducing cancer health disparities, as well as the effects of uninsurance on healthcare access among minority and underserved communities.
What advice would you give to undergraduates thinking about graduate school?
It’s now or never. As a student you have to take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.
